Running the Linux AppImage

An AppImage is a single file that runs on most Linux systems, but it has to be marked as executable first. Do it either way:

With your file manager

  1. Right-click the downloaded TotalArchery-….AppImage file and choose Properties.
  2. Open the Permissions tab and tick Is executable (called “Allow executing file as program” on some systems).
  3. Close the window and double-click the file to start the app.

With the terminal

cd ~/Downloads
chmod +x TotalArchery-*.AppImage
./TotalArchery-*.AppImage

If it won’t start

On Ubuntu and some other distributions, AppImages need FUSE. Install it with sudo apt install libfuse2 (on Ubuntu 24.04: libfuse2t64), or run the app without it:

./TotalArchery-*.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run

Install with apt

For Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint and other apt-based systems (64-bit). Adding the TotalArchery repository means the app updates along with the rest of your system.

1. Add the repository

curl -fsSL https://totalarchery.app/apt/totalarchery.gpg | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/totalarchery.gpg > /dev/null
echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/totalarchery.gpg] https://totalarchery.app/apt stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/totalarchery.list

2. Install

sudo apt update
sudo apt install totalarchery

Then start TotalArchery from your applications menu. To update later, use your usual sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade. To remove it: sudo apt remove totalarchery.
